Fantastic tasting food with solid vegetarian options. We tried two bowls (Southern and Cuban) and both were delicious. Added falafel patties to Southern and those were great. Also had a Stuffed-Avocado which was a great starter. Reasonable prices! Good tap list. Friendly wait staff. The collard greens were delicious. The friend plantain & mango offered an interesting sweet add to bites from the Cuban Bowl. Seating is mostly outside - on sunny days they try not to seat inside, on rainy or winter days they do have a small indoor seating area that we did not visit.

This place is a little hidden gem in the heart of Black Mountain. We stumbled upon it walking around and met the new owners. It is a bit unassuming but don’t let it fool you. The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing. It was fresh, unique and so flavorful. We got the Lion Cakes which is a vegan crab cake (they use mushrooms instead of crab) and it was sooo good. My friend got the Cuban Bowl and I got the beet salad. I would highly recommend eating here!!!

We ate at Goldfinch this past Friday night and had a wonderful meal! The staff was super friendly and attentive, and the food was incredible! We’re not vegetarians and were astounded how delicious the food was! Each item was creative and so unique. We ordered the “crab” cakes and they were so delicious we couldn’t believe they were made from bearded mushrooms, not crab. We tried 4-5 dishes (avocado toast, the “crab cakes”, a salad with roasted veggies, and the red curry) and LOVED everything we ate. We especially enjoyed and highly recommend the red curry which we added chicken to. After all that delicious food, we were amazed that desserts were even better! We absolutely loved the seasonal special of fresh peaches and berries over cream “fluff/cloud” and the chocolate/peanut butter ganache was the best we’ve ever had and we’re foodies from New Orleans. The owners were so nice and engaging, as were all the staff. Our server, Alex, was awesome! We will absolutely be back the next time we are in the area and highly recommend Gold Finch to anyone, vegetarian or not.

First of all, I’d like to say what lovely patio and what a wonderful place to have drinks and laughs with friends. Our server was very knowledgeable, and the new owners of this place have such a warm, friendly demeanor that it spreads throughout the restaurant. It amazing when you meet two people that put their heart and soul into their passion. It definitely makes for such an inviting space. We started off with a delicious lion cakes which are their version of crabcakes . They were so yummy that I didn’t miss crab at all . I ordered the falafel with Root salad and a side of naan and it was absolutely amazing. The flavors combined so well together the falafel was moist and you could tell the sauces were carefully crafted .. it made for such a lovely dinner. Other people in my party ordered tacos and the Cuban bowl. I took a small taste of each dish and everything was seasoned perfectly with just a right amount of heat. This is 100% a place I will go to again. I am so excited that I found some yummy falafel in Black Mountain. Thank you guys for such a wonderful experience. I can’t wait to dine with you again.

Goldfinch Cocktails & Kitchen, Black Mountain, NC This is a cute little restaurant in the main downtown area, tucked in among other shops, bars and restaurants. There’s an outdoor seating area, bar area on the ground level and then downstairs is the restaurant area, a rather small intimate space, artfully decorated. We had a reservation @ 6. We were promptly seated and attended to immediately by our waitress. Wine and alcoholic cider drinks were ordered as well as a yummy vegan appetizer that tasted like crab cakes but actually made with Lions Head mushrooms ! The main courses we ordered were 2 types of curry dishes, an avocado appetizer and another appetizer ( Lucas toast) on thin toasted bread. The drinks were excellent and the vegan entrees were so good and filling. We were too full to order dessert.

I rarely say “you must eat here”, but I can say that about Goldfinch. Truly a 10 out of 10 experience. From food, atmosphere, staff, and drink menu, all was exceeded expectations. The menu is full of unique options - so much do that we want to come back again while on vacation. They also had a great blues singer tonight; the owner said the singer is going to be a Wednesday regular. Make reservations for a table outside if the weather is nice.

A cozy artsy atmosphere in downtown black mountain. We ate inside but they have outside dinning too. Loved the vegan and vegetarian menu and the large selection and variety of entrees . It was 5 of us and we were all impressed with the quality of food. Our granddaughter got the Mac and cheese pancakes. The vegan crab cakes made from local mushrooms were wonderful. All dishes were good, will definitely go there next time I am in that area.

Outstanding in every way! Delicious and satisfying dishes. Excellent service and atmosphere. We had the specials for the night, but we were tempted by multiple dishes on the menu. Seasonal shrubs were so refreshing! Can’t say enough good things about the chef, owners, and their fresh, creative and flavorful menu items.
